Heredity – often occurring in childhood due to heredity.  Some people outgrow them and other’s do not.

Allergies – congested nasal passages cause dilating of blood vessels which drain around the eye area, causing dark circles.

Other causes include:

  • Lifestyle – Excessive smoking, drinking alcohol and caffeinated drinks
  • Too much salt in diet – causing fluid retention.

  • – the discoloration and swelling appears under just one eye and lasts more than about three days
  • Excessive sun exposure – which encourages melanin production
  • – or if they suddenly appear.

Great tips that I will have to give a try. I am sure mine are stress related but that goes hand in hand with sleep deprevation too. Although the cooler weather seams to emphasize them too. Could the dry indoor heat contribute? Thank you again!

Great info . . . nicely presented. I like the diet recommendations. Eating “clean” has vast health benefits. Like the old computer saying “garbage in, garbage out,” the body does react negatively to bad input.
Thanks for the insights. . . Best to you!
